The US has terminated a USAID initiative that has invested millions of dollars to help boost Ukraine’s energy needs after attacks by Russia, officials at USAID said. Ukraine has sustained attacks on its energy infrastructure since Russia invaded the country 3 years ago.
A USAID official says there are doubts if the current administration has the ability to negotiate a ceasefire also signaling to Russia that the US care very little about Ukraine or its past investments in the country.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, it had suffered huge losses economically, however, USAID has played a central part in ensuring resilience in Ukraine.
Sources from NBC News says the US Department is also on course to terminate another program focused on ‘financial sector reform activity’.
